- Slow Down and Dance with Me
"Skip a beat and move with your body." With these simple words Kylie Minogue took an artistic step forward that alienated a huge body of fans, while pleasing a relative handful with her bravery and innovation. SLOW separated the men from the boys in more ways than one when it first appeared last winter. its minimal instrumentation portending the even more radical moves Bjork makes on her new instument-less CD MEDULLA.
But that's what Bjork is supposed to be--challenging, while Kylie has had a lesser mandate, she's just supposed to be kittenish and entertaining. When we heard the simple countermeasures of the electronic keyboards, and the rushed lyrics that she singspiels her way through to a dramatic "Slow down," we Kylie fans didn't know what we were hearing, many of us complained, there's no chorus and so forth. It just took awhile for the track to sink it, and once it does, it's there in your cortex forever.
- Yay!
I love Kylie Minogue. Her music and remixes are danceable without being repetitive or grating to hear, and she's not unbearable to look at.
Trax:
1. Slow-Album Version (3:14): Lovely. The song that rekindled my interest in Miss K.
2. Soul on Fire (3:34): When people say this sounds like "American Life" by Madonna, they're not exaggerating. All the cool techno of "Life" without the dreadful rap.
3. Slow-Medicine 8 Remix (6:57): Also available on Part 1. A very good dub version that will appeal to fans of Rockwilder remixes.
4. Slow-Radio Slave Mix (10:27): The best commercially-released "Slow" remix. It'll get people on the dancefloor!
5. Slow-Extended Mix (6:34): Not sure if this is the "extended mix" that you can hear on launch.com, but I'm sure it's awesome.
A good buy for Kylie fans.
- Surprising in a Good Way
Track 1 was why I bought it, but Track 2 is pretty good too.
- Skip a beat
Although not a natural choice for a first single, "Slow" is nevertheless a great song. Funky, synth-laden, and unabashedly sexual, it does seem to deviate from other chirpy/frothy dance songs by entering into darker, more mature territory. Kylie sounds like she's undergone her own personal sexual revolution and the results are a smashing success. "Sweet Music" is a great track as well, lifting the mood a little bit and injecting some disco-style funkadelic beats. The "Medicine 8 Remix" might be nice if you were on ecstasy at a rave, but otherwise it just suffers from repetitive blandness. Finally, the video is a nice piece of visual work. Kylie performs the entire song lying down on a beach blanket. The gorgeous, oiled-up bodies cavorting around her are just a welcome bonus. Go ahead and buy it!

- Not What I Expected
I gave her 3 stars becasue she is Kylie and I love her. i really was looking forward to a new US release but I hope it is not this song. I feel it will go nowhere here with the US being very tough critics especially with dance music as you can tell from our charts. This song is slow just like the title and I really did not like it or the next song. The remix is sort of repetitive and not done very well, but the video is great casue she always looks great. She even looks great on the cover although it does not look like her much. If you are expecting a reoccurance of her last album with this single do not buy it becasue you will be disappointed. If you just wanna hear and see new kylie music then get it.
